Farm Information

We are a small horse farm based in Tobago. Currently we have 9 horses which we use for trekking and breeding. We are looking for experienced persons to work with our friendly horses. We have a beautiful trekk which takes you through an old coconut plantation, into the ocean and along a sandy beach. We enjoy a diet of vegetarian food and the use of natural remedies. You can learn more about us from our web-site or please feel free to contact us directly.

Farm Information

After a decade of searching for the ideal property, in January 2010, I bought 100 acres in beautiful Uruguay. “Atalaya”, as it is known by the locals, is a riverside wonderland that surpassed my idea of ideal. It lies just south of Aguas Corrientes, Canelones - an hour north of Montevideo. In the past, Atalaya was a botanical reserve and a tourist destination. I plan to develop the property in two distinct and complimentary ways: “Ecoparque Uruguay”, a not-for-profit ecological park designed to demonstrate and experiment with organic gardening techniques, eco-wise construction, and energy collection from the sun, wind, and water. And “Atalaya”, a hospitality business that will manage the rental of the houses on the property during the tourist season and the rental of the “Clubhouse” for conferences and parties. This property has five houses, a “clubhouse”, a swimming pool, a stream, a little lake, bamboo forests, eucalyptus groves, armadillos, rabbits, iguanas, boating, fishing, an endless variety of birds, mushrooms, butterflies, tangerines, wild berries, etc., etc. - all set against the beautiful Santa Lucia River. See pictures on Google Earth. Enter: Aguas Corrientes, Uy. Look South of the town for pictures of Ecoparque Uruguay.

Farm Information

We are Hugo Viera and Maria Cilitui and we run the Estancia Turistica Don Miguel near the small town of Cufre, in the Department of Colonia in Ururugya. The care of nature and growing in an organic system is very important to us. We love to share our culture and traditions and learn about those of others. WWOOFers coming here help tend the garden, milk the cows, pick fruit, cut grass, help with making meals, serve guests and help with odd jobs and projects around the farm. We are especially intersted in hosting English speaking WWOOFers who want to improve their Spanish skills and help us with our English skills. We provide dormitory style accomodation, with a private bathroom attached. We need 8 days notice before you arrive and we ask that you stay for at least 15 days. We are happy to receive Vegetarians and Vegans. We do not permit drugs or alchohol. We prefer to host one person at a time. We are happy to pick you up at the nearest bus stop in Colonia Valdense.

Farm Information

Located 5 ½ hours from Montevideo in the heart of gaucho culture. Batoví Instituto Orgánico centers on the 26 hectare Eco-farm Abambaé located in Sauce de Zapará 12 kilometers from the capitol of the department Tacuarembó. B.I.O. promotes sustainable systems of production and serves as a network for agroecological methods regionally through educational programs with students, producers, and poor as well as internationally through exchange programs with universities in North Carolina. There is a labritory for development of locally appropriate biological control. WWoofers can expect to help maintain the gardens and help with animals. The pastures and gardens are under rotation. As well as vegetable and fruit production WWoofers can gain experience working with cows, sheep, horses, pigs, chickens, turkeys and geese. Willing workers are welcome anytime and are expected to participate in daily activities on the farm and show interest in various programs involving the local community- including working with rural youth and poor as well as encouraged to participate in various workshops that are hosted on the farm throughout the year. Value-added products such as yogurt, cheese, dulce de leche, and preserves are made in the communal kitchen. The majority of people in the region eat meat, however, vegetarians and vegans are welcomed. Live in dormitory-style situations with hot and cold running water and accommodations include composting and flush toilets for your choosing. WWOOFers are welcome year round but must give at least two weeks notice prior to their arrival and stay for a total of at least two weeks.

Farm Information

I live alone, and I work outside in a family business (I am the administrator of a family business, a bakery). My house is not really a farm, but a small country house of maybe 1500 to 2000 sqm. I have little knowledge of organic farming and I haven't yet started to put them into work. But as I have been for some years a host in another big community (couchsurfing) I thought that it would be wonderful to host someone and work together doing the simple things I know about organic farming, and maybe learn side by side, more than teach. As I live besides a little lagoon not all the field is to be farmed (something to know). I would be terribly happy if I have my own little tomatoes and maybe some pumpkings. I already have oranges, and that's all.
