What is your experience in Organic Farming?
We now have 4 Buenas Cosas' Partner Communities: San Benito, San Antonio, Dos Aguadas and Carmelita - with participation from hundreds of community members. Take the Cooperativa of 240 Q'eqchi Maya Women of Dos Aguadas with ready-to-go Organic Gardens, we just need some good organic seeds - we're working on that :)

We're on our second organic crop inside our Compound here in San Benito: Red Bell Peppers and Herba Mora (sort of like Spinach). We recruit lot owners in our barrio to loan us their vacant lots to plant more organic crops. Produce is shared with the people of our barrio and we sell the excess to support various other community projects: clean stoves, English classes and more.

Our first community organic garden (20meters X 30meters) here in San Benito is coming right along. The cucumbers, red bell peppers and cilantro are somehow managing to survive the intense heat of Peten - thanks in no small part to Antonio's pole and palm shading.

We have 6 other community member organic gardens at our project in San Benito. We have dozens more community member organic gardens within our Partner Communities of San Antonio and Dos Aguadas. And, as soon as we have approval from CONAP, organic gardens will be planted in our Partner Community of Carmelita too!

Our Happy Animals project in San Benito is coming along excellently. We have 3 nanny goats, one billy goat. Our oldest nanny goat is pregnant and due to have her kids any day now! We take them to the bush each day so they can graze on their favorite plants and they're getter fatter and friskier every day. Very fun animals! We currently have 31 chickens and they're doing great!

Come help us create some Buenas Cosas!
