What is your experience in Organic Farming?
I am extremely interested in studying and learning more about sustainable living, but i have no real experience in Organic Farming. I did work at a plant nursery/fruit stand for 3 years. I also have 3 years of experience as a plumber, along with 5 years of general construction experience. I am very interested in natural building as well as renewable energy. I will be leaving for Ecuador in late September, and would appreciate any advice anoyone has for me. I will also be visiting Columbia, Peru, and Nicaragua if possible.

Ecuador

I will be leaving for Ecuador in late September, and would appreciate any advice anyone has to give. I also plan to visit Peru, Columbia, ands Nicaragua if I'm able to. Thanks.

Wow that sounds so awesome! I wish i was there!! I had a climbing accident last week and broke my ankle :( it sucks so bad I still cant walk (and i assume there's a lot of walking involved at the farm) so i dont think ill be able to go down there till later in the year... but I hope you have a good trip!

Hey I was just wondering if you had to apply for a visa before you left the country... I was looking into it and wasn't sure if I needed to do a tourist visa or if a passport works. let me know! thanks!

Late September? I might be around in Ecuador still! Let me know if you find any promising plans! I'll be packing around Ecuador for no less than all of Setember and maybe longer.

Kia ora Joel:-)
I am arriving in Quito in the 1st week of October and have simular interests to you. I am also not that "expert: in the ways of Organic and permaculture living but really keen to learn and experience more. I have wwoofed in New Zealand (my home country) and in Italy but not for long and usually as breaks from my life of teaching. I also have been wanting to find someone to learn about carpentry and building from who is into sustainable infrastructure and am going to begin this before I leave.
My passion is compassionate food creation through the soil to soil cycle, though most of my time has been spent in the kitchen part of the process!:-) Hence the interest in organic and permaculture:-) Anyways if you keen to share ideas and if you find a good place that needs more wwoofers let me know and maybe we can meet up and share ideas and stuff:-)
Good on you and hope the last months wherever you are give you what you need for your future journey:-)
Na Louise:-)

Hey Joel,

I am in a similar boat - I have a huge interest in learning more about sustainable living but lack actual experience with Organic Farming. Also, I am trying to figure out how to extend my travels so that I can WWOOF for about a year or so, but know that it is impossible without a specific VISA. If you have any advice on this, let me know please.

Sounds like you are getting ready to go though, so congrats! My family is from Argentina so if you manage to make it out there at any point and have some questions I can do my best to answer them for you.
